Biography

2014:  As a junior started all 47 games for the Knights... Had a stellar defensive season, not making an error in 130 chances and tabbed three outfield assists... Hit .280 (47-for-168) and was the Knights' leader in many offensive categories including hits (47), home runs (3), runs scored (25), and RBI (26)... Had 14 multi-hit games in 2014… Was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored against Morehead State (3/01)… Was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI against Lafayette (3/09) … Was 3-for-5 with a run scored against Big East powerhouse St. John's (3/12)… Hit his first home run of the season in a win over Lehigh (3/15) where he was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and five RBI… Was the Knights' leader in batting average in NEC play, hitting .326 (28-for-86)... Opened up conference play with back to back multi-hit performances in a doubleheader against Sacred Heart (4/06), accumulating five RBI on the day… Was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI in a win over Central Connecticut (4/18)… Had two hits along with a RBI in the series opening victory over LIU Brooklyn (5/02)… Had back to back 2-for-3 performances against Bryant (5/9-10)...  Collected a hit in all four games in the last series with Mount Saint Mary’s (5/17-18), including two multi-hit games, in games one and four.

2013: Played in and started 47 of FDU’s 48 games as a sophomore…Batted .293 with 54 hits in 184 at bats…Connected on a team-high 14 doubles and five triples to slug a team-high .424…Drove in 19 runs and scored 29…Posted a .351 on base percentage…Stole six bases in eight attempts…Had a .977 fielding percentage as an outfielder. 

2012: Named to the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association All-Rookie Team after appearing in 52 games, with 51 starts in center field... Was arguably the best center fielder in the Northeast Conference, making only two errors, and routinely making every play look easy... Batted .253 (41-of-162) with nine doubles, which tied for second on the team, one triple, one home run, 19 RBI and 22 runs scored, while posting a .361 on-base percentage... Collected 10 multi-hit games... Went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in the Knights' 8-4 victory at Quinnipiac (3/23)... Had another 3-for-4 day with a double and a run scored in FDU's 7-4 loss to Mount St. Mary's (5/4)... Picked up two hits, including a double, in his Knights' debut against Lehigh (2/25)... Collected two doubles, two RBI and scored two runs in FDU's 11-2 series-clinching victory at Quinnipiac (3/24)... Was named NEC Rookie of the Week after hitting .416 (5-for-12) with three doubles, four walks, five runs scored and three RBI, while making 19 putouts, in the four-game series agaisnt the Bobcats... Delivered a big bases-loaded, two-out triple in a 5-5 game at Siena (4/18), giving the Knights a three-run lead in the seventh inning, as they would eventually win, 9-8, in 10 innings... Hit his first career home run, a grand slam, which gave FDU a 6-3 lead in the fourth inning against Central Connecticut State (4/20), as FDU would eventually win in extra innings, 8-7... Had a pair of singles and made an extremely difficult inning-ending catch on the warning track, with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, in the Knights' season-ending 5-3 loss to Monmouth (5/19) in the NEC Tournament...

Cicero North: Earned three letters playing center field… As a sophomore, was named Third Team All-League and All County, while leading his team to the Section 3 Championship… As a junior, was named Second Team All-League… As a senior, was named Second Team All-State, First Team All-County, while being named County Player of the Year and First Team All-League…  In three-year career, he hit .465 with 91 hits, 29 doubles, seven triples, seven home runs, 86 RBI’s and 101 runs scored… Also earned two letters in basketball, scoring 320 career points, nailing 50 three-point field goals and going 36-6 in his career, while winning the Section 3 Championship as a junior…Was a member of the National Honor Society and won the Physical Education award…
 
Personal: Played for the Syracuse Sportzone Chiefs… Born Aug. 14, 1992… Son of Douglas and Renee Moonan… Has an older brother, Shawn, who played baseball at Ithaca… Father was an All-American baseball player at Courtland… Cousin, Ian Alport, is currently a member of the Syracuse football team… Relative Albert Altonge attended FDU Dental School… Business major.
