Box Score 2 TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team swept a doubleheader from LIU Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Baseball complex. The Knights came from behind to win 6-5 in the first game and then came back to win the second 13-7. FDU improves to 17-18 on the season and 8-7 in Northeast Conference play with the victories. LIU falls to 14-29 and 7-12 in the conference with the losses.
Game one was capped by an RBI walk off single from junior

Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) and junior
Patrick McClure (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius ).
GAME ONE – FDU 6, LIU 5 (9 Innings)Brennan stepped to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning with runners on first and second and delivered a base hit to left field. McClure raced around and scored from second to give the Knights a 6-5 walk off victory in extra innings.
McClure and Roman connected for back-to-back singles with one out in the inning to bring Brennan to the plate.
The Blackbirds scored two runs of FDU starter
Joe Borelli (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan ) in the first inning and added a single run in the third to take a 3-0 lead. The Knights finally broke through on offense with a four-run outburst in the fourth inning.
Sophomore
Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) singled to start the inning and junior
Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) followed with a base hit up the middle. The next batter, senior
Riley Moonan (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero North) drove a long RBI double to right center to score McCann, but LIU was able to throw Sprague out at the plate as he tried to score from first. The out at the plate didn't slow the FDU offense, as McClure walked and Roman doubled to score Moonan and move McClure to third. Brennan followed with a sacrifice fly to score McClure and the Knights would plate the fourth and final run of the inning on a LIU throwing error.
The Blackbirds would quickly tie the game in the top of the fifth, but FDU would answer in the bottom of the sixth. LIU's last run of the game came in the seventh inning as Dom Paiotti drove a tying home run out to right center.
After the home run the game would remain tied until the bottom of the ninth.
Borelli pitched six innings and allowed four runs on nine hits. He struck out two and walked two. Senior
Eric Snyder (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) (4-0) allowed the tying home run in the seventh, but pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth to earn his fourth win of the season.
Nick Freijomil (0-4) took the loss for LIU.
Giakas was one of three Knights with two hits in the game, but was the only batter with three hits. McCann and Roman also had two hits in the game.
GAME TWO – FDU 13, LIU 7Down 4-1, in the bottom of the fourth the FDU offense exploded for six runs to take a 7-4 lead. LIU answered with a single run in the top of the fifth, but the Knights scored six more runs in the bottom of the frame to pull in front 13-5.
A solo home run by Roman highlighted the fourth inning and three two-run home runs plated the six runs in the fifth. Romano clubbed his first career home run, three batters later Sprague followed with his third of the year and two batters after that McClure hit his third of the year to score all six runs of the fifth inning.
Sprague finished the game with three hits in three at bats. He also drove in three and scored twice. McClure had two hits and three RBI.
Six different Knight batters had multiple hits as the team connected for 15 hits.
Junior
Ryan McGrath (Lansingburgh, N.Y./Lansingburgh) earned the victory to improve to 6-4. He allowed five runs on six hits over five innings.
Roman's home run was his team leading fifth.
LIU would add a pair of runs in the sixth inning.
Brian Drapeau took the loss for LIU, he falls to 1-5.
The series will conclude with a single nine inning game on Sunday at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex.
