TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team split its doubleheader with Mount St. Mary's on Saturday to set the stage for an exciting series finale on Sunday.  The Knights (19-24, 10-13 NEC) and Mountaineers (12-30, 10-13 NEC) will enter the final game of the regular season tied for fourth place in the Northeast Conference standings.  The winner of Sunday's game will secure the #4 seed in next week's NEC Tournament.

The Knights dropped the opening game 4-1, but rebounded to win the second game 4-2.

Joe Borelli (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan ) and Ryan McGrath (Lansingburgh, N.Y./Lansingburgh), making their final regular season starts for the Knights, both pitched complete games.  With McGrath earning the victory in game two.

GAME ONE – MSM 4, FDU 1
Mount scored a single run in the first, two in the second and one in the third to jump out to an early 4-1 lead in game one, but Borelli settled in and held the Mountaineers scoreless over the final four innings.

He finished the day with four runs allowed on eight hits, over seven innings.  He struck out four and walked only two.

The Knights' run came in the second inning as junior John Giakas (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) drove a solo home run over the fence in right center.

FDU had six hits in game one with two coming off the bat of freshman Bobby Romano (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan ).

Borelli falls to 3-6 on the season with the loss, while Mount's Chris Campbell improves to 4-1.  Jordan Lawson picked up his fifth save for the Mountaineers.

McGrath allowed two runs over seven innings, while scattering five hits and striking out three.

Senior Riley Moonan (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero North) delivered the big hit, a bases clearing three-run double in the bottom of the third inning that proved to be the winner.

FDU also scored a run in the first inning off the bat of Moonan.  Sophomore Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) and junior Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) had back-to-back singles to give the Knights first-and-third with no outs and Moonan came up and delivered a sacrifice fly to score the first run of the game.
