Fairleigh Dickinson University's Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies is happy to announce a new Strength and Conditioning concentration for those receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies.

The strength and conditioning concentration is aimed at cultivating highly competitive strength and conditioning coaches by exposing each student to the academic and clinical side of the field. The concentration is dedicated to nurturing the talents of each individual student to ensure the highest degree of success for that student. Students will spend clinical hours at many of the high-level facilities in the New York/New Jersey area, which cater to the training needs of today's athlete.

Each strength and conditioning student will be assigned as a protégé to a member of the strength and conditioning concentration faculty or staff. In addition to the assignment of students to a specific mentor to guide them through their strength and conditioning experience, students also have access to each faculty/staff member on an as-needed basis.

Students interested in applying to the strength and conditioning concentration must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point ratio (GPR) of 2.80 or above. A minimum 3.00 GPR is required for all prerequisite courses. These GPR requirements are meant to ensure that entrants into the concentration consistently demonstrate a serious commitment to a successful and competitive academic performance.

Graduates will receive Bachelor of Arts degrees in interdisciplinary studies, strength and conditioning concentration and will be prepared to obtain certifications from the CSCCA (Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association) and the NSCA (National Strength & Conditioning Association). Furthermore, the concentration leadership is committed to aiding all graduating students in obtaining their certification in the capacity, which is most appropriate to them, based upon their specific career goals.

The keystone of the strength and conditioning concentration is each student's successful graduation, certification and career placement in the strength and conditioning field. Upon successful completion of the concentration, graduation and certification, postgraduate students can expect a commitment from the concentration leadership to assist in their career placement. Students will be educated in the process of seeking and securing employment in the field through affiliate outreach as a primary source.

The strength and conditioning concentration strives to optimize the quality of the experience and admits only a limited number of students each semester. Students who discover their interest in pursuing a career in the strength and conditioning field are encouraged to apply to the concentration to secure their spot. The journey to strength and conditioning excellence begins at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
