HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team will continue Northeast Conference action this weekend with a road contest against Mount St. Mary's and a home game against Robert Morris.
Kickoff against The Mount is slated for 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 in Emmitsburg, Md., while the Knights will face the Colonials at noon on Sunday, Sept. 30 at University Stadium.
The Knights are coming off two tough losses in the opening weekend of conference play. After falling 1-0 to Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart, FDU holds an overall record of 3-5-3.
Freshman Rachel Hoekstra (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central ) has led the team offensively with five goals and one assist on the year, while six other players have found the back of the net through 11 games.
Junior Sage DoVale (Lilburn, Ga./Collins Hill) has played every minute in the net for the Knights and has maintained a .767 save percentage with 0.86 goals allowed per game.
The Knights have outshot opponents, 10.3 shots per game to 8.9 shots per game this season and have outscored foes, 12-10.
Scouting Mount St. Mary's
The Mountaineers started the season with a 5-4 record overall and an 0-1 conference mark after falling to Saint Francis PA, 3-0, in their NEC opener. Most recently, The Mount defeated Delaware State, 3-1 in a game that saw junior Jackie Corley record the program's first hat trick since 2005.
Corley and Ragan Cote each have three goals on the season, behind only Kelly Baker's four goals and an assist. The Mount have three other players with one goal for a combined 17 on the season, compared to their opponents' 14. The team has produced 14.2 shots per game, while allowing 12.7 shots to be taken.
Freshmen goal keepers, Rachel Bourne and Vicky Cocozza split time in the net. Bourne maintains a 0.89 goal against average with a 4-0 record, while Cocozza has allowed 2.22 goals per game with a 1-3 record.
History with The Mount
Under fifth-year Head Coach Tom Gosselin, MSM was picked to finish 11th in the Northeast Conference preseason coaches' poll. The Knights are 7-4-1 all time against The Mount, dating back to 2000.
Scouting Robert Morris
The Colonials of Robert Morris struggled through nonconference action, finishing with a record of 0-9-1, before tying LIU Brooklyn, 1-1, in the NEC season opener.
Through 11 games the Colonials have been outscored 24-6, while holding a disadvantage in shots per game, 18.8-9.6. Each of RMU's six goals have been scored by a different player, with upperclassmen Alyana Davis and Katie Austin each producing a goal and one assist.
Freshman Chelsea de Jager has played 10 games in goal, with 20 goals allowed and 61 saves, while sophomore Rebekah Schoenecker has allowed four goals in four games.
History with RMU
With Head Coach John Kowalski in his 12th year, RMU was selected by NEC coaches to finish eighth in the preseason poll. The Knights are 7-5 against RMU since 2000.
