The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team fell, 3-1, to Robert Morris University on Friday, Oct. 21 in Moon Twp., PA.  The Knights drop to 4-10-1 on the season with a 1-7 mark in Northeast Conference play, while the Colonials improve to 10-6-1 with a 4-3 record in the NEC.

The Colonials challenged the Knights defense from the start, with seven shots in the first 16 minutes of play.  Knight goal keeper Stephanie Tanzi (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) made three saves during the attack.

In the 23rd minute RMU was awarded a corner kick.  Holly Sieradzki placed the kick near the far side of the goal where Alexa Sarsfield headed the ball in to give RMU a 1-0 lead.

FDU senior Amy Flanagan (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) netted her second goal of the season in the 28th minute with a free kick that curled inside the far-right post.  Flanagan's goal evened the score at one.

The Colonials started the second half with another offensive surge.  After four shots that were off-target, the Colonials pressured the FDU backline in the penalty box.  After winning the ball near the end line, RMU gave Jaimie Morra the ball at the top of the box.  In the 57th minute Morra placed a shot off the right post and passed a diving Tanzi.  Morra's first goal of the season put the Colonials up 2-1.

RMU secured the game with a third goal in the 70th minute when Jess Sharik fired a shot at the net from 30-yards out.

The Knights came back fighting, getting two shots off in the next minute but both went wide.  Senior Rashidah Sherman (Pelham Manor, NY/Pelham Memorial) took a shot in the 73rd minute that challenged RMU keeper Jessica Olin but was not enough to give the Knights another chance.

Tanzi recorded six saves in 90 minutes of play, while Olin was force to make just one.

The Knights travel east to Altoona, PA for a Sunday afternoon bout with NEC leader St. Francis.  Kickoff is slated for 12:00 pm.
