Women's Soccer Suffers 1-0 Setback to Hartford

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team suffered its third one-goal loss of the season on Sunday afternoon to Hartford, 1-0, at University Field in Teaneck.  With the victory, the Hawks improve to 2-5-0 on the season, while the Knights fall to 0-6-0 overall.

Both teams played each other to a draw for the first part of the first half until Hartford's Nicole Weil found the back of the net with a header off the rebound of a free kick to put the Hawks up, 1-0.  The goal was all the visitors would need on the overcast and cool afternoon.

The Knights had a couple of opportunities to put something together in each half.  Freshman Lexi Lentz (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) was able to get a shot on goal for the Knights in the first half, but it was turned away by Hawk's goalie Lauren Brodeur.

Junior Stephanie Tanzi (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) once again played a stellar game between the pipe for the Knights.  She was on the attack mode as she was able to stifle the Hawks' chances throughout the day.  In total, Tanzi made four saves.  Brodeur made one save for the Hawks.

The Hawks out shot the Knights, 10-2, while the home team held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.

"Right now, we are not productive on the attack," said Head Coach Renee Montana.  "We are not threatening.  We have to make improvements to see results."

"I continue to have faith in what we are capable of and will stay focused on making it come together.  Noelle Harner (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) did a nice job for us today and earned the game ball for her effort. "

The Knights are back in action on Friday, Sept. 17, as they host St. Joseph's in a non-conference tilt at University Field in Teaneck.  Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
