Women's Volleyball Drops 3-1 Match to Visiting St. Francis NY

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team fell to visiting St. Francis NY, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Knights fall to 4-22 this season, with a 1-9 record in Northeast Conference action, while the Terriers improve to 3-18 overall, with a 2-8 mark in league play.

FDU won the first set, 25-22, but the Terriers came back to take the second set, 25-20. With the match tied, 1-1, the two teams traded leads until St. Francis pulled ahead to take the set, 25-22. St. Francis captured the deciding set in another hard-fought game, 25-23.

Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) led the Knights with 17 kills, adding 13 digs, and Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) posted 13 kills and 15 digs. Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) had a team-high 43 assists and Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) led the squad with 29 digs. Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) recorded three aces and six blocks, while Sarah Berkland (Newton, MA/Newton North) and Willey each had four blocks .

The Knights are back in action at Quinnipiac on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2:00 p.m.
