The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team split a pair of games to conclude the Colgate University Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 15 in Hamilton, NY. The Knights (6-6) began the day with a morning loss to University of Central Arkansas, 3-1, but rebounded to put away Wagner College in the afternoon, 3-1.
Despite junior middle blocker Lauren Boothby (/Voorhees) (Glen Gardner, NJ) posting a double-double of 14 kills and 14 digs, FDU fell 30-28 and 30-27 in the first two games against the Bears (13-1). Head Coach Stacey Recanati's squad battled back to gain a 30-27 victory in the third game, but lost, 30-12, in the fourth.
Senior middle blocker Rebecca Tenney (/Tabb) (Yorktown, VA) led the Knights with a .450 hitting percentage, including 10 kills. Junior outside hitter Megan Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Seabrook, MD) recorded 11 kills and a .310 hitting percentage.
Senior setter Ruth Levy (/Cary) (Cary, ND) also had a double-double against Central Arkansas, amassing 14 assists and 13 digs. Junior setter Karolina Kowalski (/North Arlington) (North Arlington, NJ) contributed a team-best 37 assists.
Junior outside hitter Jennifer Brugger (/Centreville) (Clifton, VA) finished with a team-high 15 digs.
In Fairleigh Dickinson's second match, the Seahawks (2-5) had no answer for Boothby, as FDU overcame a 30-26 defeat in game one to take three-straight, 30-18, 30-27, and 30-26. The junior notched another double-double, smashing 22 kills (.333 hitting percentage), in addition to 14 digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) (Latham, MD) recorded 12 kills. Levy contributed a double-double of 20 assists and 13 digs. Kowalski chipped-in 15 assists, with Brugger adding 11 digs
Boothby garnered All-Tournament Team Honors, boasting a three-match total of 43 kills and 30 digs.
The Knights make their 2007 home debut versus Iona College, Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7:00 p.m.
