Women?s Soccer Earns 3-1 Win over Quinnipiac

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team topped Quinnipiac University, Sunday, Nov. 4.  In the 68th minute, senior midfielder Michelle DeCourcey (/Fredericton) (Fredericton, New Brunswick/Fredericton) deposited a shot in the upper right corner of the net, lifting the Knights to 7-11 overall and 5-4 in NEC action.

 

In the 77th minute, junior midfielder Emma Yamada (/LaSalle Academy) (Saunderstown, RI/LaSalle Academy) headed home a deflected free kick, the eventual game-winner, by senior defender Amanda Wheeler (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee).  Fairleigh Dickinson went ahead, 2-1.

 

Bobcats (9-7-2, 2-5-5 NEC) senior defender Mallory Curran (Danburdy, CT/Danbury, CT) cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 86th minute, following a feed from the left side, courtesy of senior defender Brittany Lockwood (Bloomfield, CT/Northwest Catholic).

 

Senior forward Tonya Hipsman (/Chester) (Chester, NY/Chester) sealed the contest with a breakaway in the 90th minute, created by sophomore midfielder Emma Howes (Avalon Beach, Sydney, Australia/Barranjoey)' (Avalon Beach, Sydney, Australia/Barranjoey/Fairfield) clearance.

Junior goalie Rachel Derrico (/Canon McMillan) (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillian) made six saves on the afternoon.
