The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team suffered its first set back in Northeast Conference play, dropping a 2-0 decision at Robert Morris University, Sunday, Oct. 7 in Moon Township, PA. The Knights (3-8 overall, 1-1 NEC) battled through 79 scoreless minutes, before the home-standing Colonials (4-6-2, 1-0-1 NEC) netted the game-winner.
Freshman midfielder Kathleen Caggiano (Moon Township, PA) ? the two-time Brine NEC Rookie of the Week ? converted a feed from sophomore forward Daneen Stevenato (North York, Ontario) to shift RMU ahead, 1-0. She added an insurance marker in the 84th minute, capitalizing on a rebound.
FDU junior goalkeeper Rachel Derrico (/Canon McMillan) (Canonsburg, PA) made six saves in the loss.
“This is a tough loss to take ? we have to find a way to be more consistent and find our rhythm,” Head Coach Renee Montana said. “It's a shame because we battled on Friday and then gave one away today. We didn't give ourselves a chance and didn't play 90 minutes, while Robert Morris did.”
Fairleigh Dickinson hosts Monmouth University at 3:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12 in Teaneck, NJ.
