Oct. 7, 2005

Box Score

TEANECK, NJ - The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team (4-7-0, 0-2-0 NEC) dropped a 3-2 decision to visiting Central Connecticut State University (9-3-0, 3-0-0 NEC) in a Northeast Conference match-up on a Friday afternoon at University Stadium in Teaneck, NJ.

The Knights opened scoring early in the first half as Marguerite Ferrell (Rahway, NJ) took a feed from Kristen Habenicht (New Hyde Park, NY) on a breakaway. Ferrell buried the ball on a diagonal shot into the back left corner of the net to give Fairleigh Dickinson a quick 1-0 advantage in the 13th minute.

Five minutes later, the Blue Devils responded as Sophie Hopper (West Yorkshire, England) found Allison Livsey (Avon, CT) for the equalizer. Livsey rebounded the ball from a scramble in front of the net after a corner kick and placed it in to knot the score.

Less than a minute later, Hopper dished out her second assist of the game, this time finding Jessica McCavanagh (Massapequa, NY) with a long pass down the left side. McCavanagh went one-one-one with the goalie and pushed in the ball to put the Blue Devils ahead.

Seven minutes before the half, Livsey fed the ball to Christie Robinson (Shelton, CT), who ran it to 20 yards in front of the goal, drawing out the goalie and blasting in an insurance goal.

Danielle McAnally (Wallingford, PA) tried to lead the Knights to a rally, rebounding a dropped save by the Central goalkeeper and punching it in to bring FDU within one goal ten minutes into the second half. The Knights were unable to tie up the game, though, falling by a final score of 3-2.

The Blue Devils had six corner kicks to the Knights' one and out-shot Fairleigh Dickinson, 15-10.

Ashley Ferra (Canterbury, CT) had five saves between the posts for CCSU, while Kyla Clark (Ottawa, Ontario) grabbed seven saves in goal for the Knights.

The Knights are back in action on Monday, Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m., when they host Quinnipiac at University Stadium.
