Fairleigh Dickinson University senior shortstop Matt McCann was drafted in the 25^th round, 745^th overall, by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the MLB Amateur Draft on Wednesday.
 
The Knights' all-time leader in stolen bases is the first FDU baseball player drafted since 2004 and was just the second Northeast Conference (NEC) player selected this year.
 
"I could not be happier for Matt. He is one of the most hardworking and successful student-athletes to grace our program and I have no doubt that he has all the tools to succeed in his professional career," said Knights head coach Gary Puccio.
 
In his final season with the Knights, McCann led the NEC in batting average (.379), hits (69) and stolen bases (25). The senior shortstop started all 46 games for the Knights finishing with a team-high 41 runs scored and .453 on base percentage to go along with seven doubles and three triples.
