Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis standout Arvis Berzins was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, April 15, before being selected as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Divsion I Upstate/Metro Player of the Week on Wednesday, April 16.
Berzins dropped just seven games in his three singles wins, beginning with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Marko Knezvic of Saint Peter's last Wednesday. He improved to 3-1 in NEC play on Saturday with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over the Mount's Adam Salam, then downed the No. 3 ranked Division II player in the nation with a 6-1, 6-3 conquest of Concordia's Juuso Ojanen on Monday. Berzins and freshman Gonzalo Quintana were similarly dominant in their doubles pairing, losing just eight games in the team's three wins. Berzins is now 16-5 in singles competition in 2013-14, including a 9-2 mark in No. 1 flight action.
