Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis standout Ksenija Tihomirova was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, April 15. She has now won back-to-back Rookie of the Week accolades.
The freshman from Lativia finished a perfect 2-0 at No.1 singles and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with partner Gisela Gastany last week. Tihomirova defeated Yuliana Motyl of UMass, 6-1, 6-2, last Thursday, before rallying to secure a 1-6, 6-2, 13-11 league win over Mount's Samantha Pinchoff on Saturday. Tihomirova is 16-10 in singles this season for FDU, which has now won five straight matches entering this week's NEC Tournament. The 16 singles wins ranks second in the NEC among freshman competitors.
