Junior standout Arvis Bernzins was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week for men's tennis, the league annouced on Thursday, March 20.
Berzins is coming off a huge week that saw him post three wins in No. 1 flight singles play, highlighted by a 6-4, 7-5 conquest of Yale's Tyler Lu, who is ranked 114th nationally and 18th in the Northeast region. He also beat two-time MAAC Player of the Year Lorenzo Rossi of Marist (6-3, 6-3) and Stony Brook's Alex Felisa (6-1, 6-2). Berzins, himself the two-time reigning NEC Player of the Year, improved his singles record to 12-4 on the 2013-14 season. He also teamed up with freshman Gonzalo Quintana for a pair of doubles victories last week.
