Senior Mark Ramsey competed in the shot put at the NCAA East Prelims on Friday in Lexington, Kentucky and fell short of qualifying for the NCAA Finals in Eugene, Oregon by less than a foot.

Ramsey finished 15th in the shot put with a mark of 18.23m (59'9.75"), which was five inches behind 12th, the last qualifying spot for Eugene.

The distance for Ramsey was senior's second-best this season. The only distance better is his current school record 18.48m.

Ramsey threw to a mark of 18.48m to grab second place and beat his previous school record by 0.10m. The senior from Paterson, New Jersey owns the five best throws in the NEC this season and sits 17th on the NCAA East Region qualifying list.
