Senior Michelle Hunzaker had the hottest hand of any bowler at the 2014 ECAC Championships (Feb. 22), and the final individual leaderboard proved it. Powering the Knights to the team title, the right-handed Hunzaker posted a tournament-best 1,098 pinfall over the course of five traditional team matches. The 219.6 traditional game average landed Hunzaker the ECAC Most Outstanding Bowler award and resulted in FDU earning its eighth NEC Bowler of the Week honor this season. Striking 58.6 percent of the time, Hunzaker left only five open frames the entire day. The Tar Heel State product posted team highs in three of FDU's five matches, including in wins over NEC rivals Adelphi and Sacred Heart. Hunzaker opened the tournament with a 236-pin performance in a 1,007-830 triumph over the Panthers. Her 233 game helped FDU crack the 1,000-pin mark in a rout of MEAC member Howard. Hunzaker's lone sub-200 performance of the day came in the form of a 198 in an easy victory over New Jersey City. FDU head coach Mike Lopresi called Hunzaker's performance "fantastic," and went on to offer the following, "She is in the middle of the best season of her career, and her high level of play is a big reason behind our match success this season."
