Fairleigh Dickinson freshman bowler Deborah Epps earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors on Wednesday after helping the Knights win the James Brown Invitational last weekend.

Epps was a key contributor in the Knights' 11-2 showing at Morgan State's James Brown Invitational. Helping the team to a first-place finish, Epps accounted for a 20.52 overall frame average over the course of the three-day meet.

The freshman from Fort Washington, Maryland threw 41 strikes in 83 attempts (.494) and filled 86.7 percent of frames bowled. Epps started three consecutive matches -- all victories for FDU -- during Saturday's traditional team rounds. The 5-foot-5 right-hander toppled Howard with a 214 game before producing a 226-pin performance in a triumph over Norfolk State. Competing in her home state of Maryland, FDU's rookie righty knocked down at least nine pins on 77.1 percent of her first-ball attempts.
