FDU Knights Athletics

Teaneck, N.J. – A dominant performance saw FDU (5-2-3, 3-0-0) cruise to a 4-1 win against Mercyhurst (2-9-0, 1-2-0). This furthered the Knights' perfect start to the NEC season and extended their unbeaten streak to 8 games.

FDU wasted no time, with Emily Villanueva opening the Knights' account for the evening after just 1 minute. A scramble in the box eventually found its way to Villanueva, who managed to steer the ball home.

Before they got their second goal, FDU sent a barrage of attempts toward the Mercyhurst net. The Lakers were kept in touching distance by their freshman goalkeeper Alyssa Alcorn, who would end the night with a staggering 16 saves. Eventually, the Knights found a way through once again in the 32^nd minute with Elena Cvetkovic placing a header into the top-right corner after a quality delivery from Laura Martinez.

The Knights' intensity was rewarded once more before halftime. Ana Salas got her 3^rd goal of the season after a perfectly weighted through ball from Marina Burzaco. This sent FDU into the break with a 3-goal lead.

Mercyhurst came out swinging in the second half, finding their first goal of the night as early as the 46^th minute. Lena Rudy took her lone chance for the evening swiftly and got her team back into the game. However, the goal proved to be Mercyhurst's only shot of the second half.

More relentless pressure eventually led to an Allison Nase rocket into the bottom-right corner in the 71^st minute to make the score 4-1. The Knights had complete control of the game from the first whistle to the last, ending the night on a remarkable 34 shots.
