TEANECK, N.J. – FDU women's soccer (3-2-3, 1-0-0) opened NEC play with a roaring 5-0 victory over Le Moyne (1-9-0, 0-1-0) at home on Thursday night. The Knights thoroughly outplayed their opponent as they outshot the Dolphins 20-4.
It was a night of firsts for FDU.
Cali-Dean Craft opened the scoring with her first career goal in the 9'.
Kelsey Spears picked up her first career assist in the first half and then followed it up with the first goal of her own in the 52'.
"Kelsey gives us a spark when she comes in," said head coach
Eric Teepe. "I think the players feed off of her energy, as well."
Craft's goal came off a beautiful assist from
Maria Barrero. Once this ball found the back of the net, FDU was off and running. Later on,
Nadia Wojcik cashed in her first goal of the season on a showstopping long-range strike that put the Knights ahead 2-0. In the 42', Spears found an open
Marina Burzaco in the box. The Spanish forward fired a shot on goal for her 5
th goal of the season.
FDU took this 3-0 lead into halftime.
The Knights wasted no time finding the scoring column in the second stanza.
Ana Salas played a dicing ball to Spears, who got behind the defense, and recorded the goal. This goal came just over six minutes into the second half. Burzaco owned the match's exclamation point as she secured a brace with a goal in the '58. Wojcik was credited with the assist.
When it was all said and done, three FDU players recorded multi-point nights.

The Knights have either won or drawn their last six matches.
FDU will take to the road this Sunday to continue NEC play. The Knights will travel to Stonehill for a 1 p.m. kickoff in North Easton, Mass.
