McInaw Scores 100th Career Goal in Knights Win at Mercyhurst

ERIE, Pa. – FDU (8-6, 4-2) women's lacrosse used nine second half goals to defeat Mercyhurst (1-10, 1-5) by a score of 13-6 on Wednesday in Erie. The Knights have now matched a program record with their fourth conference victory of the season.

Despite FDU rifling 13 shots in the first quarter, neither team found the back of the net often in the opening 15 minutes. Maeve Chamberlin and Mia Devino owned FDU's only two goals as they took a 2-1 lead into the second period.

Mercyhurst tied the game at 2-2 early on in the second, but FDU's defense stifled them for the remainder of the half. In the final four minutes, Riley Eaton and Brielle McInaw delivered goals which gave FDU a 4-2 lead at halftime.

The Lakers continued to punch back in the third period. They cut the lead to 4-3 before the Knights scored two unanswered courtesies of Karly Dillabough and McInaw. After the Lakers came within one again, Ella Grotta and Devino found twine to extend the lead to 8-5 heading into the fourth.
FDU scored the first four goals of the fourth period to put the game away. This stretched their scoring run to 6-0. Nora Codianni tallied her second goal of the fourth period to cement the 13-6 victory.

With four goals, Brielle McInaw brought her career goal total to 102. This makes her the first Knight to reach 100 goals in her career. McInaw also caused four turnovers in the game.

Both of FDU's goalkeepers provided solid performances. Riley Schildt started the game and made five saves, while allowing two goals. Skylar Goodman made five saves and allowed four goals.
