TEANECK, N.J. – The FDU Knights (9-6, 5-2) cruised past Delaware State (0-15, 0-7) by a score of 19-2 on Saturday at University Stadium. Before the game, the Knights recognized their ten seniors, including six founding members of the program who are the first players to spend all four seasons with FDU.
This game was all FDU from the start. They scored four unanswered goals in the first period. Two of these goals were scored by
Nora Codianni. The Knights made it a 10-0 game before Delaware State finally got on the board. FDU was able to respond with one more goal before the half as they took an 11-1 lead into the break.
Delaware State held FDU to just one goal in the third period, but the floodgates opened in the fourth. The Knights scored seven unanswered goals to cement the 19-2 goal.
This game saw first career goals for
Abigail McDonald,
Laura Mancinelli,
Casey Koenig and
Lydia Attisano. McDonald scored twice, while Attisano recorded a hat-trick.
It was a balanced offensive attack for the Knights as 12 players scored goals.
Karly Dillabough and Codianni each scored three.
Lindsay Evak picked up nine draw controls in the win.
Defensively,
Riley Eaton caused four turnovers, while Codianni caused three.
This win marks the fifth in NEC play for the Knights, a program record.
The Knights will take on Le Moyne next Saturday, April 18, in Syracuse. First draw control is set for 11 a.m. and will be aired on NEC Front Row.
