Box Score STATE COLLEGE, P.A. - FDU Baseball (19-10, 13-2 NEC) fell in a midweek contest at the hands of the Penn State Nittany Lions (9-21, 3-9 Big Ten) at Medlar Park in State College.
The Knights were the first team to the scoreboard on Tuesday evening, as
Jimmy Mantuano was credited with an RBI when he walked with the bases loaded, scoring
Johnathan Gomez. The Nittany Lions would punch back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first, as Penn State got to FDU starter
Chris Mattioli for three early runs in the first frame of the ballgame.
FDU would counter with a punch of their own in the second inning, as the Knights put up a pair of runs to tie the game.

Garryn Plummer got another Knight across the plate with an RBI groundout to even the score through the first inning and a half.
The Nittany Lions would deliver another big blow in the second inning, as Penn State rallied to score five runs, and knock Mattioli out of the contest. The Knights looked to chip away at the five run deficit, getting one back in the third with a
Jeremy Delamota RBI double that scored
Jimmy Mantuano. Mantuano would make an impact in the ballgame again in the next inning, as he singled home
Johnathan Gomez.
Both teams would settle in after that, as FDU and Penn State traded scoreless frames until the eighth, where the Nittany Lions were able to scratch one more run across on FDU reliever
Jason DeMarco.
FDU will be back in action for another midweek contest, this time the Knights will be on the road, taking on the Iona Gaels. Action from Flowers Park is set to start at 3 p.m.
