TEANECK, N.J. - FDU Baseball (20-11, 14-2 NEC) used a seven run comeback to top the Stonehill Skyhawks (12-16, 10-3 NEC) Friday afternoon at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. This win marks the 14th in conference play for the Knights, as well as their 14th victory at home in the 2026 campaign.
The Skyhawks got to FDU starter
Joseph Barbarino early in the ballgame, as Stonehill scratched one across in the first on an RBI double, and then got six more from a rally in the third inning to hold a 7-0 lead over the Knights after the first two and a half innings.
FDU would respond in the third inning, as
Travis Stroh opened the scoring on a throwing error.
Jimmy Mantuano drove in the next FDU run with an RBI double, and that effort was followed up by a no-doubt three run home run from
Jeremy Cheeseman. FDU would total five runs in the third frame, and exited the opening third of the ballgame down just two runs.
Stonehill and FDU would trade RBI singles in the fourth inning, followed by a Stonehill run in the 6th, as the two teams had played two thirds of the ballgame, with the Skyhawks leading by three. The score would stay that way until the bottom of the eighth inning, where the Knights answered in a big way.
Jeremy Delamota started the scoring in the eighth inning with an RBI double over the left fielders head that scored
Jeremy Cheeseman, to cut the Stonehill lead to two.
Travis Stroh was the next Knight to drive in some runs, this time by way of a game tying no-doubt two run home run, which was his seventh of the season, but the biggest of the season for Stroh.
Diego Urreta was the next Knight to come up big in a huge moment, as Urreta gave FDU the lead with a two run single, scoring
Johnathan Gomez and
Hunter Ray. Just a couple of batters later,
Jeremy Delamota came up big again in the eighth inning, getting his second hit of the frame, this one being a two run single up the middle that brought
Garryn Plummer and
Diego Urreta around to score, which pushed the FDU lead out to four.
Nick Quagliato would single home one more run for FDU in the eighth, making it an eight run frame, with seven hits. Knights closer
Nick Noble would shut the door in the ninth inning, sealing the win in a non-save situation for FDU. The Knights move to 20-11 on the season, and 14-2 in NEC play.
FDU and Stonehill will meet again tomorrow at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
Jeremy Cheeseman is set to be the starter for FDU.
