BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- FDU Women's Lacrosse (5-6, 1-2 NEC) falls 13-8 at LIU (6-4, 3-2 NEC). Riley Eaton was the leading scorer for FDU, adding a trio of goals in the first quarter and an assist in the contest.
FDU jumped out to a 3-0 lead, with a pair of Eaton goals bookending a Karly Dillabough score. The sharks were able to even the score at 3-3 with just over three minutes to go in the first quarter. Norah Codianni and Eaton scored within 25 seconds of each other to retake the first quarter lead 5-3.
LIU began the second quarter scoring, cutting their deficit to just one goal. Codianni answered back in short order to keep the Knights ahead by two, 6-4.
The Sharks scored three unanswered goals to end the half, including the go-ahead score with two seconds remaining. The Sharks took a 7-6 lead into the intermission. Beginning the second half in similar fashion, the Sharks scored the only three goals of the third quarter, leading 10-6 after 45 minutes.
Lindsay Evak and Mia Layne registered late up-goals to bring FDU within two, still trailing 10-8. LIU found the back of the net three more times before the end of the game, winning 13-8.
