HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU is heading back to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championships for a second-straight year. After the brackets were revealed, the Knights learned they had earned a #15 seed and will head to #2 Iowa in the round of 64. FDU landed in the Sacramento Region, while their first-round game will take place in Iowa City.
The Knights defeated LIU in the NEC Championship by a score of 79-57 in Hackensack on Sunday. FDU finishes the year undefeated against NEC opponents for a second-consecutive season, joining only UConn to accomplish that feat.
Ava Renninger was named Tournament MVP. As back-to-back champions, the Knights have won 40 straight games in league play and are currently riding a 22-game winning streak.
Iowa, out of the Big Ten, finished the season with a 26-6 record. They finished 15-3 in conference and went on to reach the Big Ten Tournament Championship. This is their 32
nd March Madness appearance.
