NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – FDU (5-4, 1-0) continued their winning ways with a decisive 16-5 victory over Central Connecticut (0-7, 0-1) in the NEC opener on Saturday afternoon. The Knights have now won program-best four straight games.
Nora Codianni scored a goal within the first minute of the contest to give FDU a 1-0 lead. CCSU quickly leveled the match and held FDU scoreless until the 3:47 mark of the first quarter.
Brielle McInaw broke the tie and ignited a run of 11 unanswered goals from the Knights. By halftime, FDU had built an 11-1 lead.
The Knights scored early in the third to extend their lead to 11 and played steady lacrosse the rest of the way. They tallied four fourth quarter goals to help seal the victory.
Karly Dillabough and Codianni led the way offensively for FDU. Dillabough scored a team-high five goals. She has scored seven times in the last two games and sits at 16 on the year. Codianni recorded four goals, as well as five draw controls. The junior has scored in six-straight games and has a team-best 22 goals, just one shy of a single-season career high.
Brielle McInaw posted another strong stat line. She finished with one goal, four groundballs, two caused turnovers and three draw controls. McInaw eclipsed her 200
th career draw control in this game.
Freshman
Mia Layne her third-straight game with two goals. She has nine on the year.
FDU will travel to LIU next Saturday, March 21. First draw control is set for 12 p.m.
