BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Sophomore forward
Marina Burzaco picked up her second consecutive NEC Player of the Week award, per an announcement made by the conference on Monday afternoon. The NEC's leader in points helped lead her Knights to two victories this week.
Burzaco shared this week's honor Stonehill's Hannah Anselmo.
FDU scored ten goals in two dominant victories over Delaware State and New Haven. Burzaco recorded goal contributions on five of these scores. Thanks to her four goals and five assists, Burzaco now leads the NEC in both assists and points (13).
The sophomore is also in the midst of a four-match point streak. In this span she has logged four goals and four assists. Burzaco tallied her second-straight brace and added an assist for a career best five-point evening against Delaware State this past Thursday.
Burzaco finished her week with a two-assist effort in a 5-2 win over New Haven, bringing her week point total to seven.
The Madrid native has been a catalyst for an FDU offense that has shaken off some early season struggles. Burzaco's hot streak has coincided with the Knights totaling 14 goals in their last four matches.
The Knights are back in action for a top of the table showdown against Stonehill on Thursday at 4 p.m. Fans can catch the action on NEC Front Row.
