BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – FDU Baseball has earned a pair of weekly honors following a standout performance by freshman
Johnathan Gomez, who was recognized by the Northeast Conference on Tuesday afternoon. Gomez was named both the NEC Co-Player of the Week and NEC Rookie of the Week, marking a significant milestone in his debut season.
The red-hot freshman went 7-for-13 at the plate, highlighted by a perfect 4-for-4 performance in the series finale against Mercyhurst. Over the week, Gomez launched three home runs, added a double, scored six runs, and drove in five RBIs, fueling the Knights' offensive surge. He currently leads the team with a .331 batting average, alongside an impressive .563 slugging percentage and a .467 on-base percentage—a testament to his balanced offensive presence.
On the defensive side, Gomez made his impact known with nine putouts and 11 assists, including turning a crucial double play, showcasing his versatility and reliability in the field.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, April 23, when they travel to Fairfield. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
