Box Score SYRACUSE, N.Y. - FDU Baseball (22-14, 15-4 NEC) result to the Le Moyne Dolphins (11-18, 11-8 NEC) by a final score of 4-3 at Dick Rockwell Field in Syracuse.
The Knights were the first team to the scoreboard in the ballgame as
Jeremy Cheeseman launched a two run home run to give FDU a 2-0 lead in the second inning, that homer marking Cheeseman's 11th of the season.
The Knights got a great outing from starter
Chris Mattioli, where Mattioli gave FDU five innings whre he surrendered just three runs, one coming in the second and the rest coming in the sixth berfore Mattioli could register an out, the score would read 4-2 after the first two thirds of the ballgame.
FDU would get right back in it with a solo home run from
Jimmy Mantuano, as Mantuano launched his fifth of the season to bring the Knights within a run in the seventh inning.
The combination of Dolphin starter A.J. Petraitis and closer Luke Connors was able to shut the door on the Knights from there, despite FDU having at least one runner on all three of the ladder innings of the ballgame.
This loss drops FDU to 22-14 overall on the season, and 15-4 in the NEC. Le Moyne with this win inches closer to the playoff picture with an 11-8 record in conference, and an 11-18 record overall.
These two teams are set to square off once again tomorrow, Saturday, April 18th with first pitch set for 2 p.m. from Dick Rockwell Field.
Jeremy Cheeseman is once again the scheduled starter for FDU, and the game will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
