CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Women's lacrosse kicked off a three-game "spring break" road trip on Thursday afternoon in North Carolina. FDU (1-4, 0-0) fell 23-7 at the hands of Charlotte (5-3, 0-0).
It was a good start for the Knights as they bounced back from allowing the game's opening goal and took a 4-2 lead in the first quarter. The home team then ripped off a 10-1 run and ended the half leading 12-5.
FDU scored the first two goals of the second half and pulled back within five. The 49ers regained momentum back and took control from there.
Standing out on the Knights' stat-sheet was
Adriana Mavlios. The freshman set a season-high with three goals and raised her scoring total to seven goals on the year. Two of these goals came via lasers of free position shots.
Brielle McInaw also continues to be steady as she recorded her third multi-goal game of the season. Her two tallies today bring her tied for the team lead at eight.
Jenny Spencer also recorded her first goal of the season.
Turnovers were FDU's "Achilles heel" in this one. They coughed it up 22 times, resulting in 34 shots on goal for the 49ers.
