UNIVERSITY PARK, P.A. - Graduate student,
Nicole Gavrilko, earned Honorable Mention All-American honors at the 2025 NCAA National Collegiate Fencing Championships with an 11th place finish. The two-day competition saw Gavrilko earn a 12-11 record against the top 24 fencers in the epee weapon.
Two rounds of four bouts were fenced today with the top four participants earning their way to the single elimination knockout. In Round 4, Gavrilko got off to a slow start, losing her first two bouts, similar to Round 1; but she battled back and defeated fencers from Penn State and Wayne State to finish the round 2-2. In Round 5, Gavrilko earned her final victory against an opponent from Air Force and finished the round 1-3.
Gavrilko is the latest FDU fencing All-American, following in the footsteps of epee fencer Natalia Toby, who was the previous Knight to earn the honor in 2019.
