HACKENSACK, N.J. - FDU Fencing played host to the Wagner Seahawks for a regional dual inside the Bogota Savings Bank Center on Tuesday evening. FDU ended up dropping the bout to move to 12-14 on the season, but had quality efforts from all three weapons against Wagner.
In the Foil weapon bout, both Gabriela Como and Sàra Szeverenyi both tallied two wins, as the tandem anchored the Foil squad in the bout.
Samaria Sabal also notched a win for FDU, but teh Knights could not stave off the Seahawk comeback and dropped the bout 5-4.
Wagner would continue the momentum in the Saber section against a shorthanded FDU Saber team. Wagner tallied three blank wins en route to topping FDU 7-2 in the category.
Carmen Bolt-Turner and Mya Colin both picked up wins in their bouts for FDU however.
The Knights and Seahawks would go back and forth in the Epee category as well, with the Knights getting key wins from
Sherleen Yunes and
Isabel You, as both fencers won two bouts for FDU, but the Seahawks were able to halt the comeback and top the Knights 5-4 in the Epee category as well.
The Knights will next be in action at the NIWFA Tournament, with action from Madison, N.J. set to start at 9 a.m.
