Martinez Named NEC Coach of the Year; Three Knights Earn All-Conference Honors

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Northeast Conference announced the major awards and All-NEC teams for women's bowling on Thursday afternoon. FDU's K.J. Martinez was named the NEC Coach of the Year, while three of his Knights were named to all-conference teams.

Senior Shayna Jimenez was named First Team All-Conference. Sophomore Amy Chrzanowski followed an all-rookie campaign with a strong second season. She landed on the All-NEC Second Team. Freshman Jadeyn Mabry saw her name on both the All-NEC Second Team and the All-Rookie Team.

Martinez is in his second year in charge of FDU. He has compiled 67 wins this season, which marks a nine-win improvement from his "rookie" campaign. The Knights captured their eighth NEC regular season championship and are the #1 seed in this weekend's NEC tournament. This was just one trophy that Martinez led his team to this season. FDU also won four other competitions. Over his two seasons, Martinez has a record of 125-67.

The first-team honor for Jimenez serves as a well-deserved bookend for FDU's senior captain. Jimenez averaged 19.26 pins per frame and connected on 381 strikes across all formats. She was second on the team in baker double percentage at 49.3% helping FDU thrive in this format. The Knights went 26-6 on Sundays this season, a testament to their strong veteran leadership.

Chrzanowski spent most of the season in the "four-hole" of FDU's lineup. A fill-rate of 82.5% helped set the stage for the Knights' anchor all season long. Chrzanowski also led the team at 49.8% on baker double attempts. She led FDU in the traditional format at 19.71 pins per frame. The sophomore made multiple all-tournament teams this year, most notably at the Mount Shootout.

Mabry was the breakout star in Hackensack this season. She was named Rookie of the Week five times and Bowler of the Week twice. The freshman has also been surging as of late. Just this past weekend, she was named to the all-tournament team at the Music City Classic among top competition. Mabry was FDU's top bowler in the baker format. She led the team in fill rate (85.8%) and average pins per frame (19.99). She also was over 83% on makeable spare conversions.

The Knights begin their run at the NEC Championships on Friday, March 21 in Hamilton, N.J. Catch the action on NEC Front Row.
