HACKENSACK, N.J. - Graduate student epee fencing,
Nicole Gavrilko, was officially selected by the NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Committee to participate in the 2025 National Collegiate Fencing Championships. The Championships will take place from March 20-23 on the campus of Penn State University. The women's epee competition will begin on March 22, at 9am and conclude on March 23.
Fencers will compete in a round-robin format of five-touch bouts. After round robin, the top-four finishers in each weapon will fence in semifinal 15-touch bouts, with winners fencing to determine first and second places, and non-advancing fencers being awarded a tie for third place.
Following a third place finish at the 2025 NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional, Gavrilko, returns to the NCAA Championships for a third time, her first as Knight. As a member of St. John's, she was named a third-team All-American following a tenth place finish in 2023. Gavrilko made her debut at the Championships in 2022, where she finished 21st.
One of 24 fencers selected for the competition in epee, Gavrilko represents FDU as one of the 33 NCAA member institutions at the Championships. The last time FDU was represented was by Natalia Toby, in 2020.
