LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -FDU (0-1, 0-0) fell to Rider (1-0, 0-0) in the 2025 women's lacrosse season opener on Friday evening. The Knights fell in an early hole and could not recover in the 18-7 loss.
2023 NEC All-Rookie selections
Nora Codianni and
Karly Dillabough were bright spots for FDU. The two sophomores tallied two goals apiece. Codianni also caused a turnover, picked up two ground balls and won two draw controls.
The rest of the Knights' scoring was filled out by
Lindsey Felician,
Brielle McInaw and
Adriana Mavlios. McInaw scored her 50
th career goal, while Felician netted her first of the season in the second half. In her collegiate debut, Mavlios celebrated her first career goal.
Julia Corry accounted for two assists.
Rider scored the first goal of the game, but Codianni capitalized on a free position shot to even the score just minutes later. Unfortunately, 13 FDU turnovers led to nine unanswered Rider goals to finish the half. The Broncs led 10-1 at halftime.
The Rider lead grew to as many as 11 before FDU started to cut into the deficit. The Knights scored four straight goals to cut the lead down to seven. Their comeback bid would eventually fall short.
FDU cleaned up their play in the second half but still finished with 20 turnovers. On a positive note, they did cause nine turnovers and stifled the Broncs' offensive for two extended periods.

FDU heads to Philadelphia next Saturday, February 15, to take on La Salle. Draw control is set for 1 p.m.
