Ellis Leads as Knights Sweep American International

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU men's volleyball secured their second win over American International earlier tonight, taking down the Yellow Jackets in straight sets.

Opening the night on a strong note, the Burgundy and Blue took an early 17-11 lead to begin set one. Junior Dylan McFadden showed his dominance on offense, logging four kills of his own in the run. With a strong defense and hot hitting offense, the Knights cruised to a 25-19 set one victory.

Set two saw a similar story, as FDU took an early lead, which held for the entire set. Senior Grady Hoffman proved to be essential, as the libero led the Knights defense, logging three digs in the set. With two aces by senior Lorenzo Bonomo and a kill from Jamal Ellis Carballo, the Knights took set two 25-16 to secure a 2-0 match lead.

Continuing their dominant performance, FDU stayed consistent on offense and defense in set three. Logging eight kills, four blocks and one ace, the Knights cruised to a 25-16 set and match victory.

FDU was led by Ellis Carballo, who proved productive on both offense and defense. The senior logged 10 kills, one ace and five digs for a total of 11 points on the night.

The Knights will be back in action on February 21, as the Burgundy and Blue travel to Malibu to face No. 11 Pepperdine. First serve is set for 9 p.m. EST.
