BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Reese Downey was named the NEC Rookie of the Week on Wednesday afternoon. It is the second time during the 2025-26 season that Downey has been named the Rookie of the Week.

Downey picked up the honor following her performance in the 2025 FDU Christmas Classic. The freshman averaged 12.5 PPG across the Knights' two games of the tournament. Her performance was highlighted with a career-high 15 points in the Knights win over UMES on December 30. Downey knocked down four triples in the win over UMES, also setting a new career-high.

The freshman is currently averaging 6.4 PPG in 19.9 MPG off the bench for FDU. Downey is also shooting 36.8% from three on the season so far.

Downey and the Knights will be back in action on January 2, when they face Mercyhurst to open NEC play. Tip-off in Erie, Pa. will be at 5 p.m, with coverage available on NEC Front Row.
