WEST POINT, N.Y.- Shaelin Cassidy attended the Student Conference on U.S. Affairs (SCUSA) held at West Point. Cassidy is a senior member of the women's lacrosse team at FDU, and a Government and Politics major. She was nominated by the program faculty to represent the Knights at the conference.
The Class of '71 Student Conference on U.S. Affairs (SCUSA) is a prestigious four-day event where undergraduate students collaborate with leading scholars and practitioners to develop innovative policy proposals on pressing issues in U.S. foreign affairs. As one of the largest and longest-running conferences of its kind, SCUSA brings together approximately 200 students from over 100 institutions across the United States and around the world, representing a wide range of academic disciplines. It fosters dialogue on
global challenges while building lasting civil-military relationships among future leaders from the military, government, and private sectors. Delegates also gain a firsthand look at cadet life by staying in the barracks, dining in the mess hall, and engaging with cadets in roundtable discussions.
"Attending the Student Conference on US Affairs at West Point allowed me to collaborate with some of the nation's brightest young minds on the future of American policy and foreign relations," said Cassidy. "I'm grateful to Dr. Kyle Kattelman of the Department of Social Science, History, & Criminal Justice for the faculty nomination and to my coaches for their support."
Cassidy's involvement at FDU goes well beyond the women's lacrosse team. She is a member of the Student Government Association and currently serves as the 'Transfer Representative'. Her achievements in the classroom earned her 2025 NEC Commissioner's and IWLCA Honor Roll recognition.
Cassidy is a Manahawkin, N.J. native and attended Southern Regional High School.
