HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU women's basketball (13-3, 3-0) hosts Central Connecticut State (4-13, 3-1) at home in Hackensack for a Northeast Conference match-up. The game will be a part of a men's and women's double-header against CCSU, with both games being streamed on the YES Network. Tip-off for the women's game will come at 1:00 p.m, with Dan Long and Edona Thaqi on the commentary.
The Knights return home to Hackensack for the first time in two weeks, following a road trip to Pennsylvania last week. The Knights swept their Keystone State slate, picking up wins over Saint Francis and Mercyhurst to move to 3-0 in NEC play.
Head coach Stephanie Gaitley and her squad now return home to continue defending home turf in Hackensack, a task they have been excellent at this season. The Knights are undefeated at home, sporting a 7-0 record in the Bogota Savings Bank Center this season. The team will look to keep rolling when they host CCSU for the first time this year. FDU will also look to extend their win streak, as they ride into the match-up having won six straight.
Several Knights players have been instrumental to the hot stretch as of late. Graduate student Teneisia Brown has been averaging 17.3 PPG during conference play to help lead the Knights. Brown, a three-time NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week winner this year, is coming off of a 17-point performance on the road against Mercyhurst on 1/11.
Brown has also been highly-efficient this season, leading the NEC with a field-goal percentage of 53.1%.
The Knights have also seen a great stretch of play from Abaigeal Babore as of late. The graduate student has come alive in conference play, averaging 16.3 PPG across the Knights' three NEC contests this year. Babore is coming off of a career-high 22 points to lead the way for FDU in their recent win against Mercyhurst on 1/11. Babore and Brown were both named NEC Prime Performers for their efforts over the last week.
On the other side, the Knights face a Blue Devil team sporting a 4-13 record. Despite a tough non-conference schedule, CCSU has been stellar in NEC play so far, starting off 3-1 through the first stretch of conference games.
CCSU is led by one of the most dynamic scorers in the NEC in Belle Lanpher, a player FDU will have to look out for. Lanpher is the reigning NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week, following a stretch of games where she averaged 31.0 PPG and 10.0 RPG. Lanpher erupted for 37 points against Wagner on 1/11, the second-most points an NEC player has scored in a single digit game this season.
The Knights and Blue Devils will tip off on the YES Network at 1:00 p.m.
