HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU women's soccer has brought back one of their own to the sidelines. Elma Kolenovic, one of the greatest Knights in program history, joins the 2024 squad as an assistant coach.
 
"We are excited to be bringing someone in who is so tied into the fabric of FDU," said head coach Eric Teepe. "Elma had a stellar career at FDU leading us to one NEC title, two NEC regular season championships and four straight NEC tournaments. She will bring passion and tactical awareness to our team this fall and going forward. In addition, she fits perfectly in line with our athletic core values, and she can show the players what it means to be a part of the FDU family on and off the field."
 
Kolenovic played in Teaneck from 2015-2018 and graduated from FDU in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management.
 
On the field, the New York, N.Y. native enjoyed a highly successful career. In 71 games as a Knight, she tallied 20 goals and 14 assists for a total of 54 points. She sits top five all-time in program history in both goals and points. As a freshman in 2015, Kolenovic graced the NEC-All Rookie Team. In 2016, she was crowned the NEC Golden Boot Winner and landed on the All-NEC First Team.
 
Kolenovic's individual accomplishments also pushed the team to success. In 2015, the Knights captured both the regular season and NEC tournament titles. In 2017, they earned the regular season championship.
 
"I am happy to be back at FDU," said Kolenovic. "I had a lot of memories here. Soccer has been my passion my whole life and I always knew coaching was the next move for me. I look forward to the different perspective of working beside Coach Teepe. It has been extremely fun getting to know the team and witnessing the talent we have this season. Also, seeing where our University has progressed over years has been a pleasure."
 
After her playing days came to an end, Kolenovic stayed local and began gaining coaching experience. She spent 2023 as a varsity soccer coach at Columbia Preparatory and Grammar School and was an assistant coach this past summer with the New York Athletic Club of the WPSL (2024). She currently serves as a coach for Asphalt Green Soccer Club.
 
Kolenovic joined the Knights prior to the start of the 2024 season in August.
