BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – After striking out 14 batters in seven shutout innings against Coppin State,
Zac Capps was named the NEC Pitcher of the Week. This is the second time this year Capps has been crowned with this award.
Capps' 14 strikeouts matched a career-high and brought his total to 88 on the season, which leads the team. It was the third NEC outing this year in which Capps has struck out ten or more hitters. Capps previously struck out 14 at LIU on 4/14.
Capps' NEC dominance has been a theme all season. 76 of his 88 strikeouts have come in conference play and he leads the league in both conference strikeouts and strikeouts overall.
The right-hander is slated to make one more start in a crucial road series this weekend at Wagner. This final NEC series starts on Thursday at 3 p.m.
