SYRACUSE, N.Y. - FDU Baseball (23-15, 16-5 NEC) dropped the final game of what was an even series with the Le Moyne Dolphins (12-19, 12-9 NEC) on a cold afternoon at Dick Rockwell Field in Syracuse by a final score of 10-3.
The Knights were the first team to the scoreboard as they were in each of the three games this series, as the Knights broke the scoreless tie in the third inning with an RBI single from
Hunter Ray, and then the Knights perfectly executed a first and third steal play that was able to score
Johnathan Gomez, while advancing Ray to second base in the process.Â
The Dolphins were quick to answer, as Le Moyne responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning as Le Moyne used an RBI double and an RBI single to take a 3-2 lead after the first three innings. Le Moyne got one more on the board in the fourth inning, as Paulie Goodness came around to score on an RBI single to make it 4-2 Le Moyne.Â
Le Moyne then opened the game up in the fifth, plating four runs to move the game out of reach for FDU, jumping on Knights starter
Drew Cisney and reliever
Derek Bartek. The Knights would go down with a fight though, as FDU was able to scratch across a run in the sixth, only for that run to be answered with two from Le Moyne in the eighth, as the Dolphins cruised to a Sunday and a series victory topping the Knights 10-3.Â
This loss drops FDU to 23-15 overall this season, and 16-5 in conference play, as this marks another week where the Knights hold their spot in first place, as FDU is one game ahead of rival LIU for the top spot in the conference.Â
Â
FDU's next ballgames will come in the upcoming weekend series against the Mercyhurst Lakers, as the Knights will take the trip to Erie. The series is set to start on Friday at 3 p.m. from MU Baseball Field.Â
