HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU Women's Basketball (3-0, 0-0) is back home following a weekend road trip that saw them go 2-0. They will next play host to the visiting Bucknell Bison (0-2, 0-0) on Wednesday night, Nov. 13. The game will tipoff at 7:00 p.m. ET, and coverage will be available on NEC Front Row.
FDU enters the home bout with their best record to start a season in seven years. The last time FDU began a season 3-0 was the 2017-18 campaign. With a win, FDU would move to 4-0 on the season. The last time the Knights started a season off that well was the 1991-92 campaign, in which they started 8-0. That season ended with the Knights winning the Northeast Conference Championship; the last time the Knights have won such a title.
To keep their strong momentum going, FDU will lean on their two NEC Weekly Award honorees in
Teneisia Brown and
Ava Renninger. Earlier this week, Brown was named NEC Player of the Week, and Renninger was named NEC Rookie of the Week.
Brown is coming off of a first three games that saw her average 12.7 PPG, a team-best 7.7 RPG, and a team-best 68.0% FG%. Brown recorded 22 points and nine rebounds the last time FDU was on their home court; a season opener win over Dominican on Nov. 4.
Renninger heads into the game leading the Knights in scoring as a freshman. The Yardley, PA native has averaged 16.0 PPG across her first three collegiate contests, to pair with 4.0 RPG, and a blistering 7/14 from three-point range. Renninger has come off the bench in all three apperances this season, but has played a large role nonetheless; she averages 28.0 MPG on the season thus far. The Knights latest road trip saw Renninger drop 17 points in a 62-59 win over American on Nov. 8. The freshman hit a go-ahead three-pointer late in regulation and hit the game-sealing free throws to deliver the win for FDU.
The Knights will also be on their home court for the first time since head coach
Stephanie Gaitley recorded her 700th career victory. With the Knights victory over American, Gaitley became just the 17th head coach in Division I women's basketball history to reach the 700 win pleateau. Gaitley currently ranks 6th amongst all active Division I women's basketball head coaches with now 701 wins following FDU's road victory over Mount St. Mary's last time out on Nov. 10.
The Knights will host an 0-2 Bucknell team that was picked eighth in the 2024-25 Preseason Patriot League Poll. The Bucknell are coming off of a loss on the road to Pitt, where the Bison nearly pulled off an upset, losing by a margin of just 64-61.
COMING SOON
Following the mid-week affair against Bucknell, the Knights will go back on the road, heading to Syracuse to face the Orange on Sunday, Nov. 17, and Storrs, CT to face the current #2 UConn Huskies on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
