PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The FDU Knights opened their season today at the Temple Open Tournament. The individual competition featured two round robins followed by single elimination for those that qualified.
Graduate student
Nicole Gavrilko and Freshman
Jade Burnett qualified for the single elimination tournament in epee. On the road to her third-place finish, Gavrilko took down opponents from Wagner (15-10), Duke (15-9), UNC (15-12), and Temple (15-12).
In the foil competition, freshman
Gabriella Como earned her place in the single elimination tournament after finishing in the top-40 through the round robin.
Zoe Rupp registered a 4
th place finish in the saber consolation round. Rupp finished the day in 64
th place in the saber pool play.
Dominique Greaux-Gist finished the foil consolation round with a 5
th place mark. Greaux-Gist finished the day in 68
th place in the foil pool play.
Jordana Greaux-Gist came away with a 6
th place finish in the foil consolation round. Greaux-Gist finished the day tied for 69
th place in the foil pool play.
Sherleen Yunes finished the epee consolation round in 6
th place. Yunes finished the day tied for 73
rd place in the epee pool play.
