Knights Outlast Warriors as Brown Logs Fourth Double-Double of the Season

HACKENSACK N.J. – In a Monday night battle, the FDU Knights defeated the Merrimack Warriors 67-51. The Knights picked up their first conference win as they now sit at 3-12 on the season with an even 1-1 conference record.
 
NOTABLE NAMES – 
  • Abby Conklin called in an order for 17 points and shot 5-for-9 (55.6%) from downtown.
  • Teneisia Brown tallied 14 points and ten rebounds as she picked up her fourth double-double of the season.
  • Lilly Parke racked up 12 points for the Knights with three rebounds, three assists, and three steals on the night.
  • Staci Williams contributed 11 points and shot 4-for-7 (57.1%) from the field.
 
QUARTER 1
  • Merrimack was able to build a nine-point lead in the first few minutes of the quarter at 13-4. 
  • Conklin answered the call with two triples closing in on the Warriors 15-10 halfway through the first.
  • Williams was able to knock down a three as the buzzer sounded to cut an eight-point Warrior lead down to five at 22-17.
 
QUARTER 2
  • Williams and Parke combined for three threes to open the second quarter to reclaim the lead 26-22.
  • The Knights were piling it on as Wilma Sorensen sunk four points and Conklin contributed three more.
  • The Knights closed out the half on a 25-4 run, which included a 20-4 second period spurt, to grab a 39-26 lead at the break.
 
 
QUARTER 3
  • In a back-and-forth quarter, the Knights shot 3-for-5 (60%) from the line and were able to land 6-of-16 (37.5%) from the field in comparison to the Warrior's 4-for-14 (28.6%).
  • Conklin and Parke both connected on triples to extend the lead. 
  • Brown went 3-for-5 from the field with a free throw to total seven points.
  • Knights led 56-38 at the end of three. 
 
QUARTER 4
  • Conklin started the scoring for the Knights as she knocked down one of her five threes that was followed by an addition three from Abaigeal Babore.
  • Despite being outscored by the Warriors 13-11, the Knights closed the game with a 67-51 victory.

The Knights will be back on the road January 13th as they take on Stonehill for their third conference game of the season. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. and will be available for streaming on NEC Front Row.
