TEANECK, N.J.- The Knights women's soccer team (0-3-0) played Vermont (2-1-0). FDU played a hard-fought match but conceded in the final 10 minutes to lose the contest.
1st Half
- The Catamounts recorded seven shots in the first half with five being on target.
- The Knights put pressure on Vermont recording five shots in the first but could not find a breakthrough.
- Marie Jakobsen came up big for the Knights, saving five shots in the first 45' keeping the match level heading into the half.
2nd Half
- The Knights came out firing in the second half when freshman Laura Martinez took a shot from distance in the 47' which was saved by Vermont keeper Kylee Carafoli.
- Vermont took the lead in the 81' when Bailey Ayer sent in a cross that found the head of Kate Bossert which hit the post and went in.
- The Knights left it all out on the field for the final nine minutes but could not capitalize on their chances.
"We are all a bit frustrated with the result today. We didn't take advantage of our chances and to give up a soft goal late in the game is just not good enough," Coach Teepe stated. "I felt that our shape on the ball was better and that we were in better positions throughout the match, but we still need to improve on the little things which make the difference in these types of games."
The Knights head to Yurcak Field on Monday (8/28) in Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers (1-1). FDU will look to bring the intensity and put pressure on the Scarlet Knights from the first minute to the final whistle.
