SMITHFIELD, RI – Freshman
Salif Mane broke the NEC Championship record that stood for nine years, his own school record, and set a PR in the triple jump as the Knights placed seventh on the final day of the 2021 NEC Championship from Bryant University. FDU ended the two days with 65 total points.
Four Knights earned medals in the NEC Championships. Mane earned a gold medal in the triple jump and a bronze medal in the long jump. Sophomore
Taeco O'Garro won the gold medal in the long jump and earned bronze in the triple jump. Sophomore
Ben Clay III won a silver medal in the shot put event. Junior
Duran Crooks earned a bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles.

How it Happened
- Mane broke the record three times during his six jumps, but set the new NEC triple jump record on his final attempt with a leap of 16.04 meters to break Amire Solomon of LIU's previous NEC record of 15.59 meters, his own previous best of 15.89 meters, and ranks 15th in the nation with his mark, to earn 10 points for FDU.
- O'Garro also broke Solomon's record in the triple jump, set a PR, and placed third to earn a bronze medal in the triple jump with a leap of 15.75 meters on his final attempt, which was good for six points.
- Crooks earned a bronze medal with a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles and set a PR with a time of 53.83, which qualifies him for IC4A's and he also earned a point in the 400-meter event with a mark of 50.01.
- Freshman Charles Taggert set a PR in the 400-meter hurdles and earned three points with a time of 55.43.
- Junior Sandley Elysee placed sixth in the 400-meter event with a time of 49.45 and earned three points for the Knights.
- The Knights 4x400 meter relay team of junior Keion Oglesby, Elysee, Crooks, and freshman Conroy Ellis placed fifth overall with a time of 3:19.53 to earn four points.
- FDU's 4x100 meter relay team of Oglesby, Elysee, Mane, and O'Garro posted a time of 42.77 to earn two points and place seventh.
- Sophomore Roman Mioduszewski and freshman Dane Theuerkauf also competed in the javelin event.
What's Next
FDU will compete again on Thursday, May 6 when they travel to the West Point Twilight Event with a 4:00 p.m. start time.

Taeco O'Garro took home the gold medal in the long jump as the Fairleigh Dickinson men's track and field team completed day one of the 2021 NEC Championships on Saturday, May 1 from Bryant University. FDU currently sits in fourth-place with 30 points.

How it Happened
- O'Garro set a PR in the long jump and won the gold medal with a leap of 7.35 meters to earn 10 points for FDU.
- Junior Ben Clay III set a PR and brought home the silver medal in the shot put with a 16.26 meter toss, to earn eight points and set a PR in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.64 meters on his second throw and won his preliminary flight.
- Freshman Salif Mane also brought home a medal as he finished third and set a PR with a jump of 7.12 meters in the long jump, which earned FDU six points.
- Fellow freshman Dominykas Cepys placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 14.95 meters and earned three points.
- Junior Keion Oglesby qualified for the final in the long jump and finished in seventh with a leap of 6.61 meters, to earn FDU two points.
- Fellow junior Duran Crooks reached the final for both the 400-meter event with a mark of 49.79 and the 400-meter hurdles with a 54.83 time, which was a PR.
- Junior Sandley Elysee qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 400-meter event with a time of 49.49.
- Freshman Charles Taggert reached the finals in the 400-meter hurdles with a PR time of 56.00.
- Junior Shevan Parks, freshman Conroy Ellis, and sophomore Alejandro Zapata competed in the 800-meter event.
- Freshman Liam Deep, Parks, junior Zubayr Ismail, and Ellis ended the day with a seventh-place finish in the 4x800-meter event with a time of 8:07.72, to earn a point.
