STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The men's track & field team earned top finishes in seven events on Saturday at Ocean Breeze Complex as the Knights opened their season at the Bill Ward Invitational.
Sophomores Dominykas Cepys and Salif Mane led the way for the Knights in field events with first place finishes. Mane, who currently holds the NEC Championship and FDU program record in triple jump, earned a gold medal in the triple jump and long jump events. Cepys secured the top spot in shot put, topping his career best with a 15.76m mark.
Freshmen Daniel Chambers and Malik Ricketts made their debut as Knights with top-three times. With a time of 6.89 seconds, Chambers notched the silver in the 60-meter dash while Ricketts placed third in the 500-meter race with a 1.05 time.Â

Mane broke his long jump career record with a 7.15m mark. With a 15.84m mark in triple jump, he clipped the third longest jump in program history.

The Knights dominated in shot put as junior Tahj Mullings secured the second-place spot behind Cepys with a 15.18m throw. Mullings also finished second in the men's weight throws.

The men posted a third-place finish in the 4x800 relay with a team consisting of Sandley Elysee, Shevan Parks, Yahnik Martin and Malik Ricketts.

The Knights have a month to prepare for the remainder of their season as they enter the thick of the indoor season in January. The men will return to competition on January 8 at the Angry Birds Meet in Bethlehem, Pa.
